In the ACT, specific requirements apply to medical exemptions from seatbelt rules and challenging a fine.
Before travel
- Obtain a medical certificate signed by a doctor stating that the person is exempt because of a medical condition or disability.
- Carry the certificate when travelling.
- Renew the certificate before it expires.
If fined
Apply to Access Canberra by the deadline on the notice. Include the medical certificate showing that the exemption applied on the date of the offence and any supporting clinical or transport documents.
