Northern Territory

In the Northern Territory, specific requirements apply to medical exemptions from seatbelt rules and challenging a fine.

Before travel
  • Obtain a medical certificate signed by a doctor stating that the person is exempt because of a medical condition or disability.
  • Carry the certificate when travelling.
  • Renew the certificate before it expires.
If fined

Submit a Fines Recovery Unit enquiry by the due date on the notice. You can also contact the Police Infringement Office and request a review.
