Crossit Harness

Due to the lack of knowledge and research about specialty harnesses/vests, the AuSAP Expert Committee recommended that research be undertaken to inform the inclusion of specialty harnesses/vests in future work programs.

This research includes an Austroads project (completed March 2025) and research by Neuroscience Research Australia (to be published later in 2025).

The Crossit Harness is imported into Australia by Mobility Engineering. Information is included in instruction manuals about compliance. This may include, for example, directives, standards and regulations. MACA has not undertaken an independent review of this information, therefore please refer to the product's instruction manual.

Important information: As children do not generally achieve good vehicle seatbelt fit until they are 10-12 years of age, where suitable a child should travel in a child restraint system that is appropriate for their size and needs. MACA's national product register also includes a list of Australian standard car seats and special purpose car seats.

The Crossit Harness is available in one size only. The straps can be adjusted to accommodate various occupant sizes. Refer to the Measurement Guide below.

The Crossit Harness is not a vehicle restraint, and the vehicle seatbelt must always be used.

The Austroads project, published March 2025, includes recommendations for the safe selection and use of specialty harnesses/vests. However, these recommendations require the development of guidance materials. The report also recommends further research be undertaken to investigate the selection and use of specialty harnesses/vests in supported school buses.

The Crossit Harness is primarily designed for use with motor vehicle seating positions, however Mobility Engineering advise that in some cases it can be adapted to other seating systems and wheelchairs.
