Seatbelt cameras and exemptions - Victoria

In Victoria, specific requirements apply to medical exemptions from seatbelt rules and challenging a fine.

Before travel
  • Obtain a medical certificate signed by a doctor stating that the person is exempt because of a medical condition or disability.
  • Carry the certificate when travelling.
  • Renew the certificate before it expires.
If fined

Submit a seatbelt exemption statement through Fines Victoria by the deadline on the notice. Include the medical certificate and evidence showing that the exemption applied on the date of the offence.
