Workplace Road Safety Leadership

Online course for organisations whose staff undertake work-related travel

Hundreds of thousands of Australians use a vehicle for work every day, but tragically, travelling on our roads is by far the most significant contributor to work-related injury and death in our country.

Workplace Road Safety Leadership aims to raise awareness of road safety as an important work health and safety (WHS) issue and to give workplaces the essential knowledge, information, and tools to help prevent workplace deaths and injuries on our roads.

Cost and enrolment

The course is designed for organisations in the care sector whose staff undertake work-related travel and who may also be accountable or responsible for the transport of people with disability on our roads. For example, allied health organisations, disability product suppliers and schools.

About the course

Delivered on the FutureLearn online platform, participants progress through the course at their own pace, and have ongoing access to course content after completion. The course is approximately six hours and features videos from the CEO of WorkSafe Victoria, Joe Calafiore.

The course content covers:

  • The vehicle as a workplace
  • Overview of work health and safety obligations
  • Safe vehicles and vehicle restraint systems
  • Key road safety hazards and risks and how to manage them
  • Activating the organisational support necessary to influence a culture of road safety
  • MACA’s four-step process for workplace road safety risk management
  • Useful information and resources

During the course, participants access useful tools to help identify and manage workplace road safety risks. On completion of the course, participants receive a certificate (6 hours CPD).

The Workplace Road Safety Leadership Course development is funded by the VicRoads Community Road Safety Grants Program
